Trama
Anno 2805. Sono ormai 700 anni che WALL•E,
l'ultimo di una serie di robot rimasti sulla Terra, ha continuato
imperterrito la sua opera di spazzino del pianeta, giorno dopo giorno,
compattando e stoccando l'immondizia in cubetti che ha poi impilato uno
sull'altro fino a formare centinaia di enormi grattacieli di rifiuti. La
sera, finito il suo lavoro, torna alla sua "casa", il rimorchio di un
autotreno dove, prima che finissero fuori uso uno dopo l'altro,
"riposavano" su dei ripiani mobili tutti i robot WALL•E. I ripiani, che
sarebbero ormai inutili, vengono usati da WALL•E per riporre in rigoroso
ordine oggetti appartenuti agli umani da lui trovati nel corso delle
sue operazioni di pulizia. Uno di questi oggetti è una vecchia
videocassetta del film Hello, Dolly!. WALL•E è innamorato di questo
film, che gli fa sognare, un giorno, di trovare una compagna, tenerla
per mano, ballare con lei, e non essere più solo. È così che durante
questi 7 secoli WALL•E, da freddo automa meccanico senz'anima qual era,
sviluppa una personalità umana.
